We are a small family dog rescue with a few great volunteers. We are former volunteer rescue transport drivers turned rescue owners after having witnessed such a need for fosters and rescues to provide a safe haven for dogs while they awaited transport and/or adoption. We take our convictions to these dogs very seriously and believe each dog deserves care, love and attention.

We are in need of fosters (in the worst sort of way), social media, web development, fund raising and grant application assistance. Want to learn more about volunteer rescue transporting? See our volunteer page for more information!
After having been heavily involved in volunteer rescue transports for dogs pulled from high kill shelters in the south traveling through Arkansas to northeastern United States rescues, we saw the dire need for a rescue safe haven where dogs could reside while waiting for transport coordination. We began to recognize the need for fosters for the many strays, as well as homeless and shelter pets who simply needed a helping hand to get to a better life. Using our life savings, our organization was formed to help bridge that gap and get these dogs the lives and love they deserve.
We focus on making the maximum positive effect. We take actions that make a long-lasting difference. Our mission is to bridge the gap in getting homeless and abused dogs the loving homes they deserve through sheltering, quality care, adoption, public education and lots of LOVE! From the moment they arrive, each dog is given love, compassion, comfort and is made to feel special. These are the first essentials to rebuilding their lives and making sure they integrate well with their future adoptive families.
Our rescue is a bit of a half-way house from streets or shelter to family home. We take pride in providing our rescues with the most homelike experience they can receive while in a kennel environment. We know we spoil our dogs but the way we see it, they've had a hard enough life and deserve some pampering. Our rescues watch TV from their large 5'x10' kennels while lounging on a Kuranda bed in the a/c. They have access to an equal size outdoor kennel through a doggie door and go outside to one of our two 5,000 sq ft play yards 5 times a day which which promotes potty training for a home. Treats flow freely at VKR!
We are 100% funded by donations and 100% of the donations go towards the care and re-homing of the animals. We are 100% volunteer based. There are no paid positions. We make the most of every dollar. Your generous donation will continue to fund our mission of saving canine lives. We sincerely appreciate your support. We can't do this without you.
